Vida Mia Healing Center & Spa | Winner of the Spa & Wellness MexiCaribe 2019 Spa Awards

Review by Spa & Wellness MexiCaribe

Vida Mia Healing Center & Spa, opened in 2019, is a holistic wellness center, part of The Retreat Costa Rica located in the beautiful mountains of Atenas, Alajuela. This wonderful place was built on a quartz mountain, creating a unique ‘energy aura’ that contributes to balancing the mind, body and spirit.

Every detail of the spa has been carefully thought out considering the rules of feng shui, harmony with the environment and, above all, respect for nature. Within the melting pot of options at Vida Mia Healing Center & Spa, you’ll find crystal therapies, organic rituals, ayurvedic treatments, wraps, hydrotherapy treatments such as the Vichy shower, a heated pool, a salt water pool and a chromotherapy steam room.

The variety of treatments and therapies offered at Vida Mia have been carefully designed, making each of them a memorable experience. Their philosophy is ‘all food is medicine’; products are handcrafted fresh from the garden to nurture, detox and enhance. Their massages and therapies include Thai, bamboo, lymphatic drainage, reiki and reflexology.

One of their most outstanding treatments is the Abhyanga which means ‘made with love’, this was put into practice by Dr. Vinod Balakrishnan, an expert in holistic medicine and ayurvedic therapies, a ‘science of life’ dating back thousands of years. Enjoy a few minutes in the chromotherapy steam room before the ritual begins. Performed with a prayer to attract positive energy and align chakras, this massage technique is carried out using personalized, blended oils with natural herbs grown in the gardens.

Comprehensive wellness packages are offered at The Retreat Costa Rica, for example, the signature wellness experience, which includes massage, reiki, digital detox therapies, heat therapy in the infrared sauna, a restorative Vichy shower hydrotherapy session, the bubble ritual in the Turkish Hamman, forest bathing, crystal energy healing, breathwork, meditation and watsu therapy in addition to yoga, fitness instruction and the iconic Ayurvedic abhyanga treatment, all led by a team of wellness professionals.
