Review by Spa & Wellness MexiCaribe
The multi-level Sandos Spa del Mar at the Finisterra Resort in Cabo San Lucas is the epitome of utilizing the surrounding environment to create a habitat for relaxation. The resort was carved into the rocks at Land’s End where the Pacific Ocean meets the Sea of Cortés, resulting in a natural setting for the purist of relaxation and leisure. Rustic in design, warm wood textures have been used with neutral color tones and an exposed rock accent wall. The view of the Cabo San Lucas Harbor has been contemplated with a large deck for pre and post-spa indulgence.
The spa entrance is one level below where guests are introduced to the services available. Down another level, guests are led through a dramatic tunnel-like cavern on a wooden plank walkway lit with candles and large boulders forming the outside wall. Locker rooms for male and female guests feature rocks once again as part of the wall. There are six treatment suites plus a couples VIP suite and a massage area under a beach palapa. A communal relaxation area reminiscent of a Turkish bathhouse offers a Jacuzzi and adjacent cold plunge pool welcoming male and female guests. A complete menu of services is available, including a beauty salon and fitness center, offering Yoga and Pilates classes. With 15 weddings scheduled per month at the resort, the salon is available for makeup and hair for the bridal party
Spa treatments include a range of facials for men and women, one specifically for after-sun exposure. The signature Agave Luxury Experience is a two hour ritual incorporating a foot treatment, body exfoliation and wrap, plus an anti-aging facial using natural plant products that cleanse, rejuvenate and refresh the skin. The signature massage is an 80-minute treatment incorporating hot stones, reflexology and a combination of deep-tissue and relaxation. Treatments and massages from around the world include Caribbean Breeze, Polynesian Dance, Shiatsu Sensation and Magic of Thailand and use ingredients such as cocoa, aloe vera or aromatherapy. Packages are offered appealing to honeymooners with massages for two with a romantic sunset champagne toast.
