Zentropia Spa at Grand Palladium Costa Mujeres hosted an innovative event with a sound healing ceremony performed in the hydrotherapy area. Guests joined together and relaxed on yoga mats alongside the expansive open-air hydrotherapy pool with majestic stone walls and high ceilings. Tibetan singing bowls, mystical crystal bowls and ancestral instruments combined to create a musical journey as the performers brought the instruments close to each guest creating depth of sound and even placing the Tibetan bowls on the torso of each guest allowing them to feel the healing sound vibrations throughout the whole body. This was also accompanied by the deep vibration of two large gongs, resonating with low voluminous frequencies. The hour-long session came to a close as guests shared their favorite part of the experience before continuing on to enjoy refreshments.
Some highlights of Zentropia Spa’s extensive hydrotherapy facilities are the refreshingly cold snow cabin and the expansive sensorial pool with a variety of jets and experiences including an incredible under-foot jet and an infinity edge overlooking the jungle mangroves towards the bright blue Caribbean sea. Enjoy the sauna, eucalyptus scented steam room, salt walled relaxation room, jacuzzi and cold plunge pool also. Venture upstairs to an additional sensorial pool with an elevated view and enjoy snacks from the Healthy Habits bar.
The Ritual Manteado Maya is a unique treatment incorporating indigenous ‘rebozos’, a shawl-like stretch of fabric used to gently adjust the joints, lengthen tight muscles and realign the skeletal structure of the body. Typically practiced on women who have recently given birth, to help bring the body back into alignment, this treatment also benefits anyone wanting to balance and align the body, while enjoying deep relaxation.

Costa Mujeres, an exquisite stretch of coastline north of Cancun, is home to some expansive and impressive resorts offering ample space and unspoilt, white sand beaches. The Grand Palladium Costa Mujeres, and its sister resort TRS Coral Hotel, open to adults only, offer treatments and experiences at Zentropia Wellness & Spa which spans over 4700 square meters.
An impressive hydrotherapy area boasts a sauna heated to European standards close to 85 degrees Celsius, a steam room, salt cabin, hot Jacuzzi and cold plunge pool. One highlight was certainly the ice room or ‘snow cabin’ where the temperature is a brisk -5 to -15 degrees Celsius. The walls and floor are covered with realist snow. Stand inside for a minute or two breathing deeply or increase the cold therapy benefits by rubbing the snow over the body – for as long as your fingers can stand the cold!
The hydrotherapy pools span 2 floors and offer an array or jets and water experiences, shaped bubble beds provide a place to relax while round and flat water jets nozzles provide a flow so forceful you may need a friend or partner to help keep you from being pushed over. With myriad wall and floor jets, it’s easy to treat every part of the body with hydrotherapy, my favorite was the underfloor therapeutic jets for the feet – amazing!
The Nahuatl Mexican Ritual begins with a short ceremony including a spiritual cleansing using copal incense and fresh herbs, such as rosemary, basil and rue. The treatment is an energetic, flowing massage that also incorporates the use of crystals placed strategically on the body. At the end of the experience the collection of crystals is offered as a keepsake for each guest to take home. A full range of facials is offered and the therapists incorporate excellent facial massage techniques to lift and tone the skin improving its radiance.
Zentropia is also home to a beauty salon for hair, nails and makeup, a range of group fitness activities such as yoga, pilates and zumba, plus a fully equipped gym and fitness center. In addition to the wellness services found at Zentropia the Grand Palladium Costa Mujeres offers guests the chance to improve their skills at the Rafa Nadal Tennis Center, focusing on technical, strategic and physical preparation, as well as mental training. With eight clay courts, one paddle tennis court and a soccer field, there’s a whole host of activities on offer during the stay.
