Perched on the hillside at the northern edge of Puerto Vallarta, Grand Miramar overlooks the expansive Bay of Banderas. Offering 80 spacious suites and 20 residences, Grand Miramar caters to couples and families alike. This iconic hotel is easily recognized by the bougainvillea flowers that spill over the balconies in every shade of pink, orange, red and purple imaginable.
The View Spa lives up to its name, looking out over the water and the hillside below. The hydrothermal area comprises a sauna, steam room, an experience shower and a Jacuzzi next to full-length windows. With five treatment rooms including a couple’s suite and a flotation suite, The View Spa offers a range of services including massage, body treatments, facials, beauty services and flotation meditation.
I enjoyed the View Massage which commenced with an aromatherapy ritual and crystal selection. This rhythmic, energy-balancing, medium pressure massage also incorporated hot obsidian stones, said to release negativity according to Mayan culture. I was then guided to the flotation chamber where mineral-rich, body temperature water envelops and supports the body providing the perfect feeling of weightlessness in which to relax and meditate.
Yoga classes are arranged on request and I had the opportunity to practice an invigorating morning vinyasa flow session on my balcony guided by Grand Miramar’s expert yoga teacher.
