The expansive Gem Spa and Fiesta Americana’s Grand Coral Beach sits on the northern point of Cancun’s hotel zone with views of the lagoon to one side and a panoramic view of the Caribbean Sea and Isla Mujeres on the other. Covering 43,000 square feet the Gem Spa holds the proud title of the largest spa in the Americas, renovated in 2009 under the guidance of renowned spa consultant Diana Mestre. The flowing design integrates textures of wood, Italian mosaics, sand marble and black granite with a ceiling reminiscent of ocean waves.
The large hydrotherapy pool offers an array of water jets for the neck, shoulders, back and legs, chromotherapy plus Jacuzzi beds all looking out over the crystal blue Caribbean water. This area can be enjoyed by both men and woman before proceeding to the hydrotherapy circuit. The 10 step hydrotherapy circuit commences with the eucalyptus scented steam room with a central steam unit topped with the spa’s signature gem stones. The dry heat clay room follows and guests are presented with a choice of clay masks, self applied and rinsed off after 5 to 10 minutes in an experience shower. An infra-red sauna and ice grotto precede a hot Jacuzzi, warm pool and cold plunge pool to stimulate circulation. The final steps to the ritual are two pebblestone walkways to stimulate reflexology points in varying temperatures of water.
Gem Spa comprises 26 Treatment rooms, including two shiatsu and Thai massage rooms, a VIP couples suite with dual Jacuzzi and steam room and two master suites with hydro-massage tubs and chromotherapy. With a selection of locally inspired and internationally influenced ‘gem therapy’ treatments, the spa guest selects a gemstone from a choice of 7 and is invited to take this gemstone as a souvenir of the experience.
Gem Spa welcomes guests of 16 and older to experience the full range of treatments available and offers a selection of salon services including manis, pedis and facials for guests under 16. Recommended services include the Amber Amulet Ritual, a 120 minute face and body service customized to each individual.
