The Spa at Four Seasons Costa Rica | Winner of the Spa & Wellness MexiCaribe 2018 Spa Awards

Review by Spa & Wellness MexiCaribe

The luxurious Four Seasons Costa Rica property sits at the tip of the Papagayo Peninsula in the North Western region of Guanacaste. Beaches adorn either side of the property, which is accessed via winding roads and steep hills. This hidden gem, currently the only Forbes 5-star rated property in Central America, sets the standard for luxury, quality of guest experience and eco adventure. This family resort offers 181 well-appointed guest rooms, including 24 suites, 34 villas and 3 estate homes. Guest accommodations at Four Seasons Peninsula Papagayo are currently undergoing renovation and redesign and will be introduced to guests along with a resort-wide transformation in December 2017.

The Spa at Four Seasons Costa Rica is inspired by the healing traditions of Central America, encompassing nurturing, inspiring and vibrant energy for renewal, self-discovery and reconnection. The spa features 18 treatment rooms, spacious changing areas with sauna and outdoor hydrotherapy pools and cold plunges separated for male and female guests. Time your trip to the spa well and you could be graced with a spectacular sunset view while enjoying the hydrotherapy pool.

The Spa offers a wide variety of signature treatments, couples experiences, massages, facials, body treatments and salon services. I recommend trying the Natural Healing Bamboo Massage, with a well-trained therapist, the use of the bamboo sticks during the massage adds an intensity for those who like strong massage techniques and deep pressure.

During Global Wellness Day on June 10th 2017, a full list of events was provided for guests to enjoy around the resort. The hotel also offered staff activities so their team could also take part in the fun and get to experience wellness activities. The day commenced with a ‘Pura Vida Yoga Class’ taught for all levels from beginners to advanced yogis. Kayaking, snorkeling, Pilates, HIIT, tennis, zumba, meditation, tree planting, swimming games, arts and crafts and cycling provided a variety of options for all ages, levels and interests. I participated in the sunset bicycle tour, which offered incredible views of the coastline, cliffs and shore down below. Luckily there were not too many hills on the cycle route around the golf course!
