The Magazine for spa and wellness in Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America

Expo Spa 2026

Inauguration

The inauguration of the Expo Spa commenced with the exciting news of upcoming events to be held by the association, both across the region and internationally, plus a reflection of events from recent years held in the Caribbean on a cruise, in Dubai, India, and Colombia. Dra. Patricia Hernandez introduced the members of the association, after which each member greeted the audience at the World Trade Center in Mexico City. The attendees were reminded that this is the right industry to be part of; everyone wants to live longer and live better.

Skin & Science: Trends in Nutricosmetics 2026
Dra. Patricia Hernández Ruiz

Dra. Patricia spoke about the importance of skin health from the inside out, emphasizing good nutrition, hydration, and supplementation to ensure the skin has the required elements to rebuild its structure. Results from a 12-week course of collagen and peptides showed increased skin density.

The concept of inflammaging was also introduced alongside the skin concerns caused by oxidative stress. With the increasing number of clients using GLP-1s, estheticians must look to treat loose skin and hollowing of the face for these clients, combining skincare, internal nutrition (nutricosmetics), and technology.

The Art of Wellness: How to Turn a Spa into an Experience That Captivates, Builds Loyalty & Boosts Sales
Lic. Patricia García Aragón

Patricia explained that our guests don’t just need a massage, but rather an emotional retreat. How the guest is received, how the treatment room is decorated, the aroma, lighting, rituals, and the service they receive throughout the experience make all the difference. Mexico has over 2,800 spas, demonstrating the strength of the industry, but also that today’s guests have many options to choose from.

The Face…
Dr. Gustavo Gonzalez

Gustavo highlighted the worrying obesity problem in Mexico and its physical and emotional effects, plus the economic cost to the country. With the current use of GLP-1 peptides for weight loss, our industry will see many patients with loose skin and loss of facial subcutaneous fat. These medications are also being abused by people looking to lose 10 kilos and reach size 0, creating many negative secondary effects. Treating the face with fillers can help restore structure and youthfulness.

The Spa of the Future: Trends That Are Revolutionizing the Wellness Industry
Adriana Azuara

Adriana warned against implementing every trend in your spa; not all trends need to be represented in your wellness space. We need to carefully identify which trends deserve to be implemented by understanding what your guests are looking for, to generate visible and measurable results. As a business owner, the goal should be to increase the average ticket price and rebooking frequency. To achieve this, your business must differentiate itself from the competition.

Of the trends, here are some to consider:

Longevity
Guests are looking to live longer and with a better quality of life. Your spa can implement programs to combat inflammation, rejuvenating facials using proven technology, high-quality red light therapy, recovery protocols, and supplementation.

Sleep Wellness
To sleep well is the new luxury. Your spa can implement sleep massages, sound healing, guided meditation, aromatherapy, pillow mists, and sleep kits.

Recovery & Performance
Recovery treatments are now becoming mainstream; they are no longer just for athletes. Your spa can offer infrared and traditional saunas, ice baths, physiotherapy and sports massage, percussion therapy, compression boots, and cupping.

Menopause & Wellness
One of the most underestimated markets in the wellness industry. Millions of women are looking to treat insomnia, stress, skin changes, and inflammation. You can implement sleep rituals and facials to treat hormone disruption.

Personalized Diagnostics & Measurable Results
If you cannot demonstrate the efficacy of your treatments, they will not represent value to the guest. You must be able to measure what you are treating before and after the treatment.

Wellness Transformation Programs
The spa menu of the future features programs like sleep reset, longevity journey, bridal glow, menopause balance, and recovery reset.
