The Congreso Internacional de Bienestar y Belleza 2025 was inaugurated by the Lis Wellness team, the organizers of this event, previously held in Houston, Texas, USA, and Merida, Yucatan, Mexico. The congress focuses on bringing education to spa and wellness therapists in the region, with experts from various fields of study sharing their knowledge.
Professor Dafne Ayala spoke about prenatal massage and how to care for the body during the transformation of pregnancy. She explained the safest positions for the guest, appropriate techniques and pressure, as well as contraindications. Dafne recommends asking the guest to first touch her abdomen to get the baby used to the sensation before the therapist performs the massage. She also mentioned that it is beneficial to teach the partner how to massage the mother-to-be.
Lic. Selma Hernández addressed the topic of late post-surgical fibrosis. Mexico is one of the leading destinations for medical tourism, with many visitors traveling to the country for surgical procedures. Following postoperative complications, a variety of treatments can be applied to remodel tissue and regenerate skin, improving texture and appearance. The combination of radiofrequency and ultrasound technologies with lymphatic drainage techniques offers the best results.
Dr. José Carlos Jiménez Ortega, an expert in biostimulation, spoke on cellular regeneration methods to improve skin density. Microinjections, or mesotherapy, use needles to apply a dermo-restructuring complex, distributing the product evenly. Delivering a controlled injury to the tissue, along with the ingredients necessary for reconstruction, sends a signal to the skin to regenerate and produce more collagen and elastin.
Lic. Delia Ochoa taught the audience how to effectively treat acne, covering the most common types of acne, myths and real causes, forms of treatment, and the impact that treatment can have on a person with acne who suffers from low self-esteem.
Lic. Sara Jones presented current trends in the spa and wellness industry, including longevity and biohacking trends that can be easily applied to spa businesses, highlighting practical ideas for improving the guest experience and optimizing wellness services. She also shared the results of the 2025 Spa and Wellness Survey, which highlights the current state of the industry across Mexico, the Caribbean, and Latin America.
