Healing with Heat: Interview with Danielle Forsgren of Avacen

What is the AVACEN and what conditions does it treat?

The AVACEN is a unique medical device that is FDA Class II cleared for aches, pains, strains, overall muscular relaxation, and widespread pain from arthritis. It incorporates a dry heat pad – where the hand is placed, and then enclosed in a vacuum chamber. This warms and thins out the blood, improving microcirculation all around the body within approximately eight minutes, and delivering more oxygen and nutrients to places that typically don’t have good microcirculation.

Long-term use reduces inflammation, pain, metals, and toxins, and as inflammation is the cause of so many diseases, the AVACEN can help to prevent issues caused by inflammation. Think of the AVACEN like acupuncture without needles, the body heals from the inside out!

How are spas incorporating the AVACEN?

Spas are utilizing the AVACEN in their relaxation rooms with 20-minute add-on treatments before any kind of massage or facial, it can even be used during a facial as it boosts oxygen and can ‘supercharge’ every treatment. Touchless treatment modalities can be used in conjunction, such as red light therapy and meditation devices like BrainTap.

At a resort or a wellness residential property, treatments are typically charged at 1-2 USD per minute, for 20-30 minute treatments. Spas have found this a good price point, especially when the first session is offered free of charge. After experiencing benefits, such as a pain reduction, demand increases.

During activity-based vacations, where people tend to push themselves on day one, day two is often where people feel sore and risk injury, therefore incorporating the AVACEN on day one and two of these trips could reduce injury risk.

How is it used to enhance the guest’s stay at a resort or at a wellness residential property?

The Carillon Miami provides all guests with information upon check in, they also rent the AVACEN device out for a week at a time. Many guests enjoy the benefits and feel really good after using it daily, leading them to purchase the device. The AVACEN can be shipped to the guest and the spa earns a commission.

What conditions are spa guests commonly looking to treat?

Muscular relaxation and general aches and pains are what most guests are looking for. After trying it, many guests sleep so well that this becomes their motivating factor for repeat visits.

What precautions should be taken for safe use?

Having done 25 million treatments with no adverse effects reported in over 16 years, we consider the AVACEN extremely safe. Some users actually choose to manage their high blood pressure by using the AVACEN.
