Zen spa features an Alchemy workshop – a creative space where guests can discover, create and experience a variety of wellness focused activities. Workshops are held daily at 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. with free and paid options. Choose from juice therapy, healthy snacks, massage lessons, create your own mask, hair care, Mayan treatments and botany for the skin – to name just a few. I took part in an interactive workshop called “Create Your Own Perfume” after learning the basics of perfume making and getting to know the different essential oils, we each created our unique scent based on which aromas we were drawn to. Guidance from the workshop leader ensured we used each essential oil in the correct amount and didn’t allow one scent to overpower the rest. We were invited to name our scent, which we then bottled and labeled to take home. The next time someone asks me, “What perfume are you wearing?” my answer may be “Puro Amor – a custom blend by Sara Jones, courtesy of Zen Spa Alchemy Workshops”.
