Spa Review: Botanique Hotel & Spa, Campos do Jordão, Brazil

Botanique Hotel & Spa in Brazil enjoys stunning views in all directions of the mountains and valleys of Campos de Jordão, a couple of hours drive from the bustling city of São Paolo. A unique construction using stone, wood and glass, creates an open contemporary-rustic space, allowing light to flood through the central lobby.

The restaurant’s farm to fork concept blends the energy of the sun with flora, herbs and trees local to the area. The food is fresh, organic wherever possible, and prepared to perfection. Olive trees grown within the grounds of the hotel allow Botanique to produce, use and sell their own olive oil, the flavor of which is comparable to the best I have tasted in Italy.

The stylish and well appointed 6 guest suites in the main building all offer spectacular 180 degree views and echo the design of the lobby and restaurant with wood floors, black tile bathrooms and expansive windows extending the length of the suite. Eleven villas scattered around the grounds are also available with elaborate private gardens.

The leadership style in our currently male dominated world of industry and government is reaching a tipping point. Vital to the continued success of our enterprises and institutions is an infusion of some of the attributes and qualities that have made the feminine style of leadership so effective and sustainable. Perhaps that’s why Fortune Magazine published, “The Future of Leadership is Female.”

Mixed Spa Areas

It is about time spa operators started looking at what people want. In the day and age of gender-neutral toilets, why does visiting a spa has to be gender segregated in countries where religion does not dictate otherwise? With many aspects of modern life encouraging inclusiveness, why are we still so entrenched in the belief that a couple visiting a spa together want to enjoy a sauna, steam room and other hydrotherapy facilities separately? Agreed, there are some people who do prefer to use these facilities in private, but the vast majority of people want to be together, particularly if a spa visit is to be a group social event or part of a vacation.
