General info

Inkaterra Hotels offer luxury accommodation while focusing on ecotourism and sustainable development. Inkaterra Machu Picchu sits on the edge of Machu Picchu Pueblo (formerly Aguas Calientes), just next to the quaint railway station where most visitors will arrive.

The rustic yet comfortable casita-style accommodations are well appointed with everything you may require. Many include an open fireplace with daily delivery of wood to burn during the chilly evenings. High wood-beam ceilings, elegant lamps and colorful throws create a cozy ambience. Make use of the environmentally friendly toiletries, plus Andean slippers crafted from recycled materials - all provided for your stay.

The highlight of staying here is, of course, the trip to Machu Picchu historic citadel. The Inkaterra guides provide a tour of the archaeological site with insights into the culture and history. If you want to push yourself physically, add on the Apu Machu Picchu tour and hike up the mountain overlooking the reserve. Pass the Sun Gate before summiting the mountain’s peak, often lost in the cloud forest. Expect sore legs the next day; it’s quite a climb!

The grounds of Inkaterra Machu Picchu span 12 acres and are home to countless species of birds and over 300 species of orchid – including the Ellianthus Capitulus, locally called ‘Sara Sara’ or ‘Choclo Choclo’! You can also take the time to visit the tea plantation and make your own tea from the fresh picked leaves. Around the town you will find countless markets and a variety of brightly colored souvenirs and keepsakes to remember your stay in Machu Picchu.

Unu Spa offers a variety of massages, body treatments and facials to help you relax after long days full of activities. As with other remote areas where standards and training vary, the best option is likely one of the massage services offered.
