“We have eliminated plastic sheets from our body treatments; we perform the services directly on sheets or towels. This represents for us a saving of about 15% of the cost of treatment. So far this year, we have had more than 1000 services that involve some kind of body treatment in which a disposable sheet would have been used. It was very important for us to take the decision to no longer use plastic sheets.
We promote the use of clothing or bathing suits during massages (although we still provide the option to use disposable underwear). The use of disposable face rest covers has been eliminated; previously we covered our massage bed face rests with a cover; we now use towels. At the Rock Spa, 78% of the services are massages.
For us, to be able to reduce the consumption of disposables and plastic sheets creates an important impact, both in our costs and in the reduction of plastic waste. Training verbiage was implemented, we inform our guests that we are minimizing the use of disposables.”
