The Fairmont Mayakoba, situated in the Riviera Maya is home to the Willow Stream Spa, the in house brand of the iconic Fairmont hotel chain that looks to nature for inspiration, energy and balance. Catering to families, couples and business travellers the hotel is often the location of choice for exclusive events, including the Live Love Spa Mexico event held in August for the last two years running. I was recently invited to enjoy an afternoon at the spa with a friend.
We arrived with plenty of time to take advantage of the facilities including a steam room, inhalation room and Jacuzzi separated for males and females. A mixed hydrotherapy rooftop space offers a vitality pool with jets and sea-mineral hot soaking pool where couples can enjoy the experience together. My guest and friend who accompanied me, also happens to be a writer and provided her account of the wonderful Obsidian Stone massage:
“The experience was delightful and left me fully relaxed. As it was my first visit at the Fairmont and my first time trying this type of massage, my therapist kindly explained the process prior to beginning the treatment. She also confirmed my preferred aroma, the Willow Stream Balancing Oil. Throughout the private 90-minute session that followed, my therapist expertly released the tension that had accumulated in my body. Her skilled movements used the right amount of pressure, and the stones were always hot but never too hot. My mind had nothing better to do than listen to the peaceful soundtrack that was playing in the background, let go of my worries, and enjoy the soothing hot-stone treatment.
