Andaz Papagayo, Costa Rica

Hyatt Andaz Papagayo is set on the hillside overlooking the tranquil waters of the Bay of Culebra on the Papagayo gulf. Featuring 153 suites that balance modern design and décor with rustic touches and natural materials that blend with the surroundings. Spanning several levels across the hillside, guestrooms higher up are afforded spectacular forest canopy views and frequent interaction with wildlife. Four cascading swimming pools provide an alternative to the steep trek down to the beach; most are designed for family enjoyment, while one is reserved for adults only.

Onda Spa houses nine chic treatment rooms with balconies overlooking the treetops. Relax to the sounds of chirping birds and ocean waves, but don’t be surprised to hear the occasional monkey howl – it’s all part of the experience at Andaz Papagayo. Begin the spa journey in the steam room followed by the open-air relaxation area and warm pool looking into the trees, where you are likely to see monkeys climbing, swinging or napping in the branches.

Treatments start with a customized foot scrub using ingredients like beach sand, rice, gallo pinto or local corn scrub, fresh fruits, volcanic clay and locally grown botanicals and herbs. Choose from a spa treatment menu of massages, body scrubs and wraps, luxurious baths and customized facials.

A fitness center offers cardio, free weights and machines and for yoga enthusiasts, private classes can be arranged.
