Phytomer – 50 Years Of Beauty By The Sea

THE ORIGINS
50 years ago, my father, Jean Gédouin founded Phytomer after experiencing the benefits of sea bathing. This happened at the dawn of balneotherapy, the experience was so extraordinary that he decided Phytomer should bring the sea to everyone and transform the sea into skincare. Starting in his garage, he developed the first body care products made from algae extracts and oligomer, the iconic ingredient of Phytomer products, sourced from a seawater concentrate. The success of his products was immediate, in 1978 he opened our first formulation laboratory.

Expansion after expansion, we remain true to the principles with which the first laboratory was created in the bay of Mont-Saint-Michel. Our facilities include genetic analysis and cell culture centers, bioclimatic greenhouses for algae cultivation and a biotechnology laboratory.

FROM FRANCE TO THE WORLD
In 1981, I joined the company and had the honor of leading the international expansion. Phytomer arrived to Italy in 1982, in 1985 to the United States and Canada, followed by Japan, Greece and Finland, arriving quickly to approximately 10,000 spas in 80 countries, including Mexico, which stands out for its enormous growth potential.

In each country, we strive to represent the true concept with which Phytomer was created. We are proud to have professional distributors who know their markets and provide extraordinary support to our customers. In Mexico, we are very happy to collaborate with Beauty Source.

THE FAMILY SAGA
In 1997, my father gave me the management where I have led successful launches such as Champagne des Mers, a marine mud to release tension and intensely remineralize the body. In 2010, my daughter Mathilde Gédouin-Lagarde and her husband, Tristan Lagarde, joined to ensure the ecological and digital transformation of the company and lead the strategic project of opening our spas.

PROVIDING WELLNESS TO MIND AND BODY WHILE TAKING CARE OF NATURE
All our efforts to preserve the natural environment have earned us the Ecovadis Gold Certificate, for six consecutive years. At the heart of Phytomer is a sincere eco-responsible sentiment that has been maintained since our birth 50 years ago.
